Apex Glass Industries designs, fabricates, and installs custom architectural glass for homes throughout Buford and Gwinnett County: glass railings, frameless showers, glass partitions, and wine cellars. A Buford Project: Glass Through Every Level of the Home

The interior railing at this Buford home isn't one short run beside a staircase. The glass follows the main staircase, continues through additional stair runs, carries across the landings, and extends along the second-floor overlooks above. Because stair runs sit at an angle and landings and overlooks run level, each section had to be measured and fabricated for its own location, then line up with the next as the glass moves up through the house.

The project has a documented before, installation, and finished sequence, from the bare staircase to glass panels being set to the completed stair and overlook railings. Read the full story behind this multi-level railing →

A Master Shower With Gold Hardware, a Designer Transom, and a Corner Door

The same property included a frameless shower installation in the primary bathroom, finished in gold hardware with a designer transom above the enclosure. The door sits at the corner, where two glass panels meet.

A corner door is measured differently from a door in the middle of a flat run of glass. The door, the panel beside it, and the panel that turns the corner all have to fit one another, so the door swings and closes without catching. The transom above depends on exactly where the glass below it ends, so it is planned together with the rest of the enclosure. Tempered glass can't be cut after tempering, so every panel is measured from the actual walls and tile before it is fabricated.

Apex carries a wide selection of designer hardware finishes, gold among them, and can bring samples to the jobsite so homeowners and builders can compare finishes in the actual space.

The property also included a large exterior stair railing, an additional scope Apex was trusted with at the home. That project will be covered in its own case study.

Glass Railings in Buford

Apex installs glass railings for interior staircases and level changes throughout Buford, with mounting styles that vary by application, post-mount, base-shoe, and standoff systems each suit different stair and landing conditions. For exterior applications, Apex installs glass railings for decks, front porches, patios, and pool enclosures, where patio and pool applications call for different mounting and code considerations than a standard deck or porch railing. Railings are typically fabricated in 1/2-inch tempered glass, with options including standard clear, low-iron/ultra-clear, and bronze-tinted glass.

Frameless Showers in Buford

Apex designs, fabricates, and installs frameless glass shower enclosures for Buford homes, custom-measured to the exact opening. Glass options include standard clear, low-iron/ultra-clear, and optic-white glass, with hydrophobic coating and hydrophobic glass available for easier maintenance. Shower glass is typically fabricated in 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch tempered glass, depending on panel size and configuration, with hardware finishes selected to match existing bathroom fixtures.

Glass Partitions in Buford

Apex designs and installs residential and commercial glass partitions for home offices, conference rooms, and business build-outs throughout Buford and Gwinnett County. Glass options include standard clear, low-iron/ultra-clear, and bronze-tinted glass, fabricated in 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch tempered glass. Partitions can be built completely frameless for a minimal, open look, or with a black metal grid frame for a more defined architectural feature within the room.

Wine Cellars, Mirrors & Commercial Glass in Buford

Beyond showers, railings, and partitions, Apex fabricates custom glass wine cellars and mirrors for Buford homes, planned and measured to fit the exact space. Apex also completes commercial glass work throughout Buford and the surrounding area, including office and retail glass, custom fabrication, and specialty applications built around a business's specific operational needs.

Working in Buford

Buford sits at the southern edge of Lake Lanier, with most of the city in Gwinnett County and a northern sliver in Hall County. It was once known as "The Leather City" for the tanning and leather trade that grew up around its railroad and historic Main Street, and today that older downtown sits alongside newer residential neighborhoods and the Mall of Georgia. That mix means glass work here ranges from fitting into established structures to being planned alongside larger, multi-level homes. The Buford property above reflects the second case: a home where glass had to be coordinated across stairs, landings, overlooks, a master shower, and an exterior stair as parts of one residence.

Glass Installation in Buford, Georgia — FAQs

Does Apex Glass Industries have completed projects in Buford, GA?
Yes. At one Buford residence, Apex completed a multi-level interior glass railing running from the main staircase through additional stair runs, landings, and second-floor overlooks, a master shower with gold hardware, a designer transom, and a corner door, and a large exterior stair railing.

Can one glass railing continue across multiple levels of a home?
Yes. The Buford interior railing extends as one connected system from the main staircase to the upper landings and overlooks, with each section measured and fabricated for its specific location.

Does Apex install both interior and exterior glass railings in Buford?
Yes. Apex installs glass railings for staircases, balconies, overlooks, decks, porches, patios, and pool enclosures, indoors and out.

What is a corner door on a frameless shower?
A corner door sits where two glass panels meet, not in the middle of one flat run of glass. The door and the panels around it are measured to each other so the door swings and closes against the adjoining glass correctly.

What is a transom on a shower enclosure?
A transom is the glass panel above the door and the panels below it. Its width and position depend on where the glass underneath ends, so it is planned together with the rest of the enclosure.

Why must shower glass be measured before it is fabricated?
Tempered glass cannot be cut or trimmed after tempering, so every panel has to be right before it arrives. Bathroom corners are rarely perfectly square or plumb, which is why measurements are taken from the actual walls and tile.

Can Apex match gold or other designer hardware finishes on a shower?
Yes. Apex carries a wide selection of designer hardware finishes, including gold, and can bring samples to the jobsite so homeowners and builders can compare finishes in the actual space.

Does Apex install partitions and wine cellars in Buford?
Yes. Apex installs glass partitions, wine cellars, mirrors, and commercial glass for homes and businesses throughout Buford and Gwinnett County.

Are your Buford installers licensed and insured?
Yes. Apex Glass Industries is licensed, insured, BBB Accredited, a National Glass Association member, and Best of Houzz 2026, with every installation completed by our in-house crew.
