A Different Way to Experience a Walk-In Shower: An Atlanta Frameless Glass Installation
Apex Glass Industries installed a frameless glass walk-in shower with full-height panels and a door-free entrance in Atlanta, Georgia. Walk-in showers have traditionally been built with enclosing walls. In this bathroom, glass takes the place of those walls, so the shower’s tile and materials stay visible from the room. Watch the opening before the glass went in, then the finished enclosure.
From Walled Shower to Glass Enclosure
The film starts with the shower opening before any glass was installed, then shows the finished frameless enclosure. The walk-in is still a walk-in. What changed is that the tile and the details of the bathroom aren’t hidden behind a wall.
A Door-Free Walk-In Starts With the Layout
With no door, the glass itself is the design. The number of panels, their height, and where each one stands in relation to the entrance all shape how the shower looks and how it’s used.
That’s why the opening is measured as built, and why the glass is fabricated to those measurements before it arrives. Tempered glass can’t be cut or trimmed after it’s tempered, so the measurements have to be right the first time. Apex handled the measuring, fabrication, and installation for this project with its own team.
Clear, Bronze, or Smoked: The Glass Changes the Room
Clear glass leaves the tile exactly as it is. Bronze adds a warm tone, and smoked glass adds a darker, gray one. The same bathroom can read quite differently depending on that one choice, and tinted glass changes how the tile looks through it.
Because of that, we don’t recommend choosing from a catalog photo. Apex brings glass and hardware samples to your home or jobsite, so you can hold them up in your own light, against your own tile and fixtures, before anything is made.
The Same Bathroom in Bronze and Smoke
The glass installed in this Atlanta bathroom is clear. The bronze and smoked images below are digital visualizations of this same bathroom, with only the glass color changed. They are not separate installations, and we’ve labeled them so you can tell the difference. A visualization is a useful way to compare options, and a sample in your own space is how you confirm the choice.

A Wide Range of Glass Options
Glass is one of the biggest choices in a shower, and Apex offers a wide range:
Standard clear glass
Low-iron, or ultra-clear, glass, which reduces the green tint you see along the edges of thicker glass
Optic-white glass
Bronze-tinted glass
Smoked glass
Frosted glass and privacy film, for homeowners who want some privacy
Hydrophobic coating, to make routine cleaning easier
Hardware comes in a range of finishes too, including gold, black, brushed nickel, and chrome. We help you match the glass and hardware to your bathroom and your layout.
